What is BiCHEM?
BiCHEM produces base chemicals from biomass. It uses an inexpensive, recyclable solvent to break down cellulose and hemicellulose into sugars. These sugars are hydrogenated and then converted into base chemicals for producing, for example, environmentally friendly plastics, or transformed into next-generation, advanced fuel additives such as high-cetane biodiesel.
BiCHEM technology was developed and patented by BIOeCON working in collaboration with teams of leading scientists from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and the Universidad Politecnica of Valencia in Spain.
